Kentaro Takaoka (高岡 拳太郎 Takaoka Kentarō) is an anime-exclusive character in the Tiger Mask 1969 anime series. He was originally a Tiger's Den wrestler under the ringname Yellow Devil (イエローデビル) to support his family before defecting to Tiger Mask's side after bring touched by his nobility.

He later became one of the main supporting characters in the Tiger Mask W sequel, where he scouted Naoto Azuma to become his hero's successor to support his cause and undermine the Tiger's Den again.

Biography[]

Kentaro Takaoka's family was very poor in Meiwa, Gunma, where he does part-time milk delivery to support his little sister and sick mother after the death of his father. 15-year-old, he was then scouted by Mr. X for his karate skills after seeing him smash a table in half with a single chop. Though trying to escape the Tiger's Den due to homesickness, he returned after hearing about his mother's death and vowing to defeat Tiger Mask, believing him to be the cause. Only after his defeat by Tiger Mask, he eventually learned the truth and officially defects the Tiger's Den and on towards the path of a noble wrestler.

Tiger Mask W[]

Now a old and crippled motorshop owner, he is the only person upholding Naoto Date's spirit and Tiger Mask's nobility, even as preserving his secret training center. After learning about the Tiger's Den revival, he finds Naoto Azuma, a wrestler-in-training with no place else since Jipang Prowres's dissolve by Monopoly. As fate played out by the youth's name, he trains Naoto as the new Tiger Mask in the shadows to eliminate Tiger's Den again, which assists the latter for Naoto's vengeance for being robbed of his home.

Personality[]

After reforming himself to being a proper wrestler, his devotion to Naoto proves unparalleled then he substitutes for his hero in episode 94.

  • He is modelled after Teppei Oiwa, an orphan and Tiger Mask's disciple in the original manga.
  • According to Yoshio Kuroda, the producer of episode 28, he was set to be the protagonist for Tiger Mask II of 1981, before he was replaced by Tatsuo Aku.
